ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ - The second round of the North American Ferrari Challenge Series 2009 will take place on April 17-19 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia.
The series returns to the undulating curves of Road Atlanta for the second year running with a strong race for the championship underway. Homestead double winner Scott Tucker of Boardwalk Ferrari (Dallas, TX) looks to extend his championship lead, while Mark McKenzie of Ferrari of Houston will try to close Tucker’s 70 point lead. 2007 Ferrari Challenge champ, Mike Zoi of The Collection (Coral Gables, FL) brings a renewed confidence into Road Atlanta and looks to be a strong contender for race wins. With 400 points at stake over the weekend, it is possible that a new points leader will emerge at the conclusion of the Challenge’s Georgia weekend.
Mark McKenzie’s Ferrari of Houston teammate Richard Fant, sitting fourth in the standings, demonstrated strong pace at Road Atlanta in 2008 and will look to add to his Homestead racecraft and consistency to the mix in an effort to upend the podium order. Also looking to make a strong showing is Ferrari of Beverly Hills Zak Brown who qualified and ran strongly at Road Atlanta in 2008.
Adding to the excitement at Road Atlanta will be demonstration FXX and F1 sessions held the tutelage of the factory-backed Corse Clienti program. This will be the first time that either FXX or a modern era Ferrari F1 car circuits the twists and curves of this famed Georgia asphalt.
