SHELL FERRARI HISTORIC CHALLENGE
BULLETIN 2007 No. 9 November 16, 2007
2007 SEASON DINNER
While the 2007 racing is finished, there are two more events to wrap up the season. Each Shell Historic driver was sent an invitation to the Cocktail Party and Dinner at the Ferrari Showroom on Park Avenue in Manhattan, on December 6th, to celebrate the 2007 season. If you would like to attend please contact the Ferrari Concierge Service (866-551-2828) to RSVP.
The final event of the season will occur in January, at the 2008 Cavallino Classic in Florida. Our 2007 Champions, Tom Price and Chuck Wegner, will receive their awards at the dinner on Friday, January 28th.
2008 SHELL HISTORICS:
The 2008 schedule was announced in late October, and has been finalized by some date changes among the announced tracks. At this time the final schedule is:
January 22-27: West Palm Beach (Cavallino Classic)
April 18-20: Road Atlanta, Georgia
May 2-4: Infineon Raceway, California
July 18-20: Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada
August 14-15: Laguna Seca (with Monterey Historics0
August 30-31: Lime Rock Pack (with Vintage Festival)
(November 6-9: International Finals, Italy)
Registration for the 2008 Shell Historics will open on the Challenge website (www.ferrarichallenge.com) on January 1st; you may register for events through the website, or through the Ferrari Concierge Service (866-551-2828).
For 2008 the Entry Fee remains at $1500 per driver per event (no matter how many cars are entered). We are offering a special “6 for 4” arrangement for entry fees: for an advance payment of $6000 a driver may enter four, five or six events in the 2008 season. Potentially this could represent a one-third reduction in Entry Fees for the season.
You should have received your license renewal from GrandAm. We would remind you that the Cavallino Classic is schedules on the same weekend as the 24 Hours of Daytona, GrandAm’s biggest event. You should ensure that you your license as quickly as possible.
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY
For the 2008 season the requirement that all Ferraris must possess a Certificate of Authenticity has been modified; this is a change from the previous announcement. Instead, all Ferraris must continue to meet previous standards of eligibility, and an application for a Certificate of Authenticity must be completed for each Ferrari entered. Ferrari North America will waive the fee associated with the Application for cars entered in the Shell Historics. (Drivers who race in the Shell Historics also receive a reduction in the cost of a Certificate for all Ferraris they own.) For 2008 eligible Maseratis and Alfa Romeos may participate in the Shell Historics without a Certificate.
NEW CLASS STRUCTURE FOR 2008
For 2008 the class structure has undergone a redesign, based on the number and performance of past entries. The overall structure of Drum and Disc groups will be maintained, but within those groups the classes are changed to:
DRUM GROUP

Class DM2 -- Postwar Closed Cars under 2.9 liters
Class DM3 -- Postwar Closed Cars 2.9 liters and over
Class DM4 -- Postwar Open Cars 2 liters and under
Class DM5 -- Postwar Open cars over 2 liters
Class DM6 -- Postwar Grand Prix Cars

We may reconsider changing the upper limit for class DK1 to 3 liters at any point during the season if appropriate. The 2008 rules also specify that cars in Class DK1 must compete on bias-ply tires only.
We’ll look forward to seeing you in New York in December, and in Florida in January.
